Catholic Charter Organizational Representatives - New Training

The National Catholic Committee on Scouting has developed a new online training module to supplement your Boy Scouts of America's Charter Organizational Representative (COR) training.   Our focus is not to retrain you on your role as a COR, but to give you the tools to use the Scouting program as a tool for a deeper Catholic youth ministry experience for the youth.

 

The NCCS COR Training is a four module training available on BSA's ScoutingU system.  The modules covered are:

Archdiocesan Scout Mass – April 4, 2020 @ Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul - Scouts celebrate Mass and are presented their Parvuli Dei, Ad Altare Dei & Pope Pius XII emblems. Unit and adult recognition is conferred to those showing exemplary efforts to promote our Catholic faith in Scouting. Units – Cardinal Krol & Pope Paul VI awards, Adults – Bronze Pelican, St. John Neuman, St. George.

Annual Catholic Scout Retreat – March 7, 2020 – Chapel of the Four Chaplains, Phila Naval Yard - The annual retreat is held one weekend in a fun, outdoor scout centered environment to help our youth grow in their faith with their fellow scouts. This year will be one day event and will include AAD & PPXII BOR’s.

Cub Scout Pilgrimage – November 23, 2019 @ St. John Neumann Shrine, Philadelphia - The annual pilgrimage has seen attendance of over 100 cubs each year along with their families and have been a terrific experience for all. This is one of the requirements for scouts to earn the Scouting for Faith Emblem.

2019 Scout Mass

The Archdiocesan Scout Recognition Mass annually recognizes youth who have received the Light of Christ, Parvuli Dei, Ad Altari Dei, or Pope Pius XII awards; adults who receive Catholic Scouting awards; and Catholic Scouting units.

The 2019 Scout Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11am at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul.  

Please download the Mass flier and share with all interested Scouts, Scouters, and families.

New Process for Eagle Commendation Letter

Eagle Commendation letter:  Archbishop Chaput writes commendation letters to new Eagle Scouts who are members of parishes or units within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  Requests can be submitted by emailing Ms. Helene Carberry in the Office of Archbishop.  Requests should include the Scout's name, his unit type and number and chartered organization, his parish, the date of the Eagle presentation, and mailing address and phone number for the requesting person.
